WELCOME to Friends of Scituate’s Future

Friends of Scituate’s Future is a community group dedicated to improving our town.  Our current mission is to improve the 97-year-old Gates Middle School building.  Improving Scituate’s school buildings benefits everyone in town.

FoSF wants to THANK YOU for your support at the Special Town Meeting this past November 13, 2012.  Voting yes:

• Appropriated funds for a comprehensive feasibility study and educational vision plan for ALL of Scituate’s Schools.  
• Proved Scituate’s commitment to this project and the MSBA officially invited us into the Eligibility Phase of the MSBA process. 
• Allowed for the formation of the School Building Committee.

Scituate has now completed the Eligibility Phase and we are waiting for the MSBA to vote and approve our completion of that phase at their next Board meeting.  At that time, we can begin the Feasibility Phase.

Background

Gates Middle School is 97 years old and has outlived its useful life as a school.  Fortunately, Scituate is moving forward in the process with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA).  Scituate could receive between 42-55% reimbursement from the state for a new school building!
